Citroën has unveiled its latest mini EV, the Ami for All, designed specifically for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. This new concept EV has been designed in collaboration with PIMAS, a company that specializes in converting vehicles for people with disabilities. It features a custom design that is easier to drive for those with accessibility issues and can fit a wheelchair inside or out.

The Ami for All is based on the Ami EV which was released in 2022 and features a compact design. It has a wider door opening angle and a retractable and removable transfer shelf that helps transition you from wheelchair to driver seat and vice-versa. There is enough room to fit a collapsed wheelchair on the passenger’s side, and you can also attach it to the back of the Ami for All on a dedicated aluminum luggage rack. The controls for accelerating and braking are at hand level and there is a knob on the steering wheel to make driving easier.

The Ami for All has a top speed of around 27 mph and a range of about 46 miles. It is powered by a 6kW electric motor and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, and can be charged in less than four hours using a conventional 220V socket. This mini EV is not really designed for long weekend drives, but is more tailored to help those in wheelchairs commute around a city easier. You don’t need a license to drive this in Europe, and you don’t have to break down your wheelchair to fit in the passenger side of the Ami for All.

Citroën has put the Ami for All on display at the Autonomic trade fair in Paris, and is working to get a production-ready model out. The company hopes to open orders for the Ami for All in the fourth quarter of 2023, with first deliveries estimated for the first quarter of 2024. The Ami for All is the perfect EV to customize into a mobility solution for those with disabilities, allowing them to have more independence and freedom.

No longer do those with mobility issues have to rely solely on public transportation. With the Ami for All, they can now have a safe, reliable, and affordable way to get around. Citroën’s Ami for All is a revolutionary concept that will truly make a difference in the lives of those with disabilities.
