Peterborough Pride 2022: Celebrating the City's LGBTQ+ Community

     This weekend (June 24th), Peterborough is set to host its first Pride celebration, with a parade beginning at Stanley Recreation Ground and ending at the Green Backyard. The celebration aims to bring the city's LGBTQ+ community together and show support for those within it.

     At the Green Backyard, stages and stalls will be set up for the public to enjoy. There will be a dedicated stage in memory of Brianna Ghey, the transgender teenager who was killed in Warrington in February. This stage will feature performances by Embrace, Luci Marion Collins, and Zoe Oswald Music. The main stage will be hosted by Teddi the Drag Queen and Alexa Vox, with performances from Kings & Things and the Beyoncé Experience.

     The stalls alley will feature local businesses and craft items, as well as a range of food and drink options. There will also be a parade bus taking a slightly different route for those with additional needs to travel to the Green Backyard.

     Organisers have encouraged attendees to "have a wonderful day, keep hydrated, dress to impress, and make sure you are respectful not only of the space but the other people in the space as well." Sponsors for the event include Anglia Ruskin University, Perkins, and Aegon.

     Peterborough Pride 2022 is a great opportunity for the city's LGBTQ+ community to come together and celebrate. It is a chance to show support for those within the community, and to make sure that everyone feels safe and accepted. The event is sure to be a memorable one, with lots of fun and entertainment for all.
