New Appointments and Promotions Announced at Deloitte, Haydale, WRU, and Swansea BID

     Organisations across Wales have recently announced a number of high-level appointments and promotions, including at Deloitte, the Welsh Rugby Union, and the Football Association of Wales. In this article, we take a closer look at some of those who have taken on new roles.

     Advanced material group Haydale Graphene has appointed Patrick Carter as their new Chief Financial Officer. Mr Carter joins the Ammanford-based firm from previous senior roles at Aukett Swanke, Charteris and a number of private equity-backed renewable energy companies. Haydale chief executive Keith Broadbent said: “I am very pleased to announce Patrick's appointment as Chief Financial Officer. As we continue to move further along our commercial journey, Patrick is a strong addition to our leadership team to ensure our absolute financial focus. Having his legal skills in house will also be a major plus as we continue to grow as a company.”

     The founder of one of Swansea’s largest law firms, Peter Lynn, has been appointed as the new chair of Swansea Business Improvement District (BID). Mr Lynn has been an integral part of the Swansea business community for many years, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to the city's prosperity. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the legal field, combined with his deep understanding of the local business landscape, making him an ideal choice for this crucial role. Swansea BID represents over 800 businesses in the city centre and is governed by a board of voluntary directors, made up of private, public and third-sector representatives from the BID area.

     Welsh public affairs consultancy Deryn Consulting has made five new appointments to its team. The company has taken on four new members of staff in its monitoring and research team and appointed Dr Georgina Bensted as a public affairs account manager. Dr Bensted has previously served as senior researcher for the Conservative group in the Senedd for several years and led on health research and policy for the group for nearly a decade.

     The Construction Hub Academy has made four new appointments. The Barry-based construction training business has appointed Carys Ackerman, Chase Westwood, Daniel Rossiter and Megan Ackerman. Chase Westwood has been promoted to the role of operations manager and will oversee the instructors in the business.

     Economy Minister Vaughan Gething has appointed Trefor Owen and Owen Derbyshire to the Welsh Industrial Development Advisory Board (WIDAB). The board provides advice to the Economy Minister on issues relating to the Welsh economy, including on individual projects requesting support of over £1m from the relevant schemes with the Economy Future Fund.

     The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has appointed Alys Carlton as the first ever female chair of its board, succeeding Sony executive Steve Dalton. Welsh speaker Ms Carlton began her career in London as a corporate lawyer with magic circle firm Allen & Avery, before returning to Wales to work for Cardiff-based commercial law firm Capital Law. She currently runs her own business providing coaching, mentoring and strategic advisory services to senior leaders globally. The FAW has also appointed Sameer Rahman, who has set up numerous companies and held senior roles with firms such as Gocompare and the Royal Mint, as an independent non-executive director.
