Julio Enciso is set to make his international debut for Paraguay today in a friendly against Nicaragua, and with it comes the hope of scoring his first international goal to round off a memorable season.

The 19-year-old forward has made a name for himself in the Premier League since his move from Libertad a year ago, and expectations are high for him to lead a revival of the Paraguayan national team.

Speaking at a press conference, Enciso said, “Being here means a lot to me. I used to be a ball boy when the national team played and it gave me goosebumps. Today, from within, it is inexplicable. A dream.”

Enciso has also used his time back home to reconnect with his roots, speaking the indigenous Paraguayan language spoken by his parents. He said, “This week I have been really happy because I’ve heard the Guarani language again. I see a very united group and what you see on the pitch will reflect that.”

The Seagulls forward opened his Premier League account against Bournemouth earlier this season, and it would be no surprise to see similar scenes when he nets for Paraguay. He said, “I am getting impatient and I really hope to score my first goal for the national team. But the coach and my team-mates are helping a lot in this sense. They tell me to be calm and play with freedom.”

Enciso’s debut for Paraguay is sure to be an exciting one, and it will be interesting to see if he’s able to fulfill his ambition of scoring his first international goal to round off a memorable season."
