This year's expo is the largest of its kind in the country's southwestern region, and it has been expanded to a mega size by merging different exhibitions that had been held separately in North and South Jeolla provinces.

The expo will showcase 14 essential technologies behind the country's vehicles, self-driving cars, auto parts manufacturing industries, electronic appliances, drones, and robots. Visitors to the expo will have the opportunity to ride new vehicles from the country's biggest carmakers, fly drones, and check out the latest outdoor camping gear.

In addition to the business aspect of the expo, a job fair will be held simultaneously for those in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province. On the final day of the expo, around 1,000 teenage students from across the nation will join a robot challenge, competing against each other in six different games.

Gwangju Intelligent Electronics (GIEL), a collaborative umbrella brand for all future electronics made in the city, will also be promoted. The expo is organized jointly by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and is expected to help Gwangju's core industries see growth in competitiveness and expand sales routes for local small and medium-sized companies.
