The Ford Mustang has long been an iconic symbol of American muscle, and now the Blue Oval is preparing to unleash a new race-ready version of the Mustang for the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium. Ford has released a teaser image of the upcoming Mustang GT4 race car, which shows off the car's headlight and front bumper treatments. The car features a bright orange body colour with black accents under the headlights, air intakes and diffuser, as well as red rectangular textured artwork throughout the livery.

The Mustang GT4 is based on the seventh-generation Mustang and comes equipped with a naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre Coyote V8 engine tuned to deliver 373kW — that’s 500 horses even — and 567Nm to the rear wheels. Ford Performance has co-developed the Mustang GT4 with Multimatic Motorsports, which will build the car for customers globally.

Ford has also confirmed that the Mustang GT4 will feature some changes to the suspension and aerodynamics to make the car ready for GT4-class motorsport. The Mustang GT4 will be competing in the FFSA GT4 category against competitors from the likes of BMW, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Porsche and Audi. The Mustang GT4 will debut during the 2023 season and will be available for global GT4 classes in IMSA, SRO and FIA GT series.

Ford recently debuted the Mustang GT3, which featured a bespoke “short-arm” suspension under the skin, along with an aggressive aerodynamics package that can be adapted for wherever in the world a team is racing. The GT3 also debuted with the Ford Performance logo for the first time.

The Mustang GT4 will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Spa endurance race – held at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on June 28. Ford Performance global motorsports director, Mark Rushbrook, will be joining SRO President, Stephane Ratel, at the event to showcase the new Mustang track special.

The Mustang GT4 promises to be an exciting addition to the Ford Performance lineup and will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with in the world of motorsport.
