Ash Taylor and Geeta Bahra had high hopes when they arrived at Pizza Express in Brighton Marina on Sunday, June 11th. It was 11.45am and the restaurant was quiet, so they thought they'd avoid the lunchtime rush. Little did they know that they would be waiting an hour and a half for pizzas that never came.

The couple, from Kemp Town, ordered drinks, doughballs and two pizzas shortly after arriving. Their drinks and starters arrived promptly and they watched the restaurant begin to fill with families having lunch before making the most of the sunny weather.

"We went because we had a Christmas voucher to use up and when we arrived it was really quiet," Geeta told The Argus.

After waiting nearly an hour for their pizzas, the couple asked a waiter where they were. They were reassured the pizzas were on their way but 30 minutes later and the pair were still empty handed and getting hungry.

"No one came over to explain what had happened and we had been waiting absolutely ages," said Geeta. "We had to leave because we had plans. We asked for the bill for the doughballs and drinks and left."

Ash said: "This Pizza Express is a shambolic excuse for a restaurant and I'm looking forward to it being replaced by a business that is competent."

When contacted by The Argus, Pizza Express requested Ash and Geeta's contact details. With consent from the couple, The Argus handed these over to the Pizza Express team. A spokeswoman for Pizza Express said: “Our Brighton Marina team work hard to deliver great service no matter how busy our restaurant is. We have contacted Ash and Geeta and resolved this with them.”

Unfortunately, this experience left Ash and Geeta feeling angry and frustrated. It's understandable why they were so upset; no one wants to wait an hour and a half for food that never comes. It's important that restaurants provide good customer service and ensure that customers are informed of any delays. Pizza Express should take this incident as a lesson in how not to run a restaurant.
