What Can't She Do? - The Surprising Piano Skills of Princess Kate
Key Highlights :

The world was stunned this weekend when Princess Kate, mother of three, shared a surprise piano performance to celebrate the opening of the Eurovision Song Contest. In a pre-recorded clip, the royal was seen seated at a grand piano, wearing a blue off-the-shoulder gown and smiling. The video was later shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales themselves and began with a drone shot outside of Windsor Castle, zooming in to show Kate seated at the piano.
The performance was of the 2022 champion Kalush Orchestra's winning song Stefania, and it was clear that Kate had some serious piano skills. This wasn't the first time that the Duchess of Cambridge had shown off her piano playing, either. In 2021, she made an unexpected appearance at a Christmas Eve carol concert at Westminster Abbey and accompanied pop star Tom Walker as he sang ‘For Those Who Can’t Be Here.’
Kate has been playing the piano since she was a child, taking lessons from the age of 10 until 13. Her former instructor, Daniel Nicholls, spoke fondly of her in 2021. “She was absolutely lovely, a really delightful person to teach the piano,” he said. “I don’t think anyone would say she was going to be a concert pianist, but she was good at it, she always did everything she was told.”
Music has become increasingly important to Kate during the UK’s COVID lockdowns across 2020 and 2021. A source said that “She recognises the powerful way in which music brings people together” during tough times.
The performance at the Eurovision Song Contest was a reminder of Kate's talent and her love of music. It's clear that the Princess of Wales can do almost anything - and that includes playing the piano!
