Police Respond to Rooftop Standoff in Grimsby

     Residents of Julian Street in Grimsby were shocked this morning (Sunday) when several police cars and a riot van arrived in their street. Officers were responding to a "rooftop standoff" where a man was seen hurling bricks from a rooftop. Both ends of Julian Street have been blocked by police vehicles and residents have been told to stay inside.

     A witness spoke to Grimsby Live and said that the man was standing on top of an outbuilding, throwing what appeared to be bricks or tiles into the air. The outbuilding belonged to a local business and the police were using a drone to monitor the situation.

     Residents of the street were understandably concerned and scared of what was happening. One resident said, “I was so scared when I saw all the police cars and the riot van. I didn’t know what was going on and I was worried for my safety.”

     The police have not released any information about the incident yet, but it is believed that the man was taken into custody without any further incident. Residents of Julian Street are relieved that the situation has been resolved and are grateful for the swift response of the police.

     It is unclear at this time what caused the man to take to the rooftop and throw bricks, but it is a reminder of the importance of police presence in our communities.
