Manchester United legend Patrice Evra was seen in a heated confrontation with a member of the Manchester City backroom staff after the Citizens' Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid. The incident was eventually diffused by Pep Guardiola's assistant Manel Estiarte, and Evra has now revealed the reason behind the clash.

Evra, who was at the Etihad working as a TV pundit, claims that the staff member was looking at him with "this is for you" attitude after comments he had made in 2022, when City threw away a lead to crash out against the same opponents at the same stage of the competition in extra time.

The former France left back then crashed CBS Sports Golaazo's post-match comments, labelling Micah Richards a 'Christmas tree' and shouting 'I love this game!' before walking off.

Evra has now explained that the staff member was referencing his 's***' comments from a year ago, prompting the confrontation.

The 42-year-old was quick to quash talk of the question of Man City's treble pursuit being largely a formality now, with their stunning win over Los Blancos.

"By the way there's one game left, so don't celebrate yet. You didn't win yet, so calm down, tranquillo, as the Italians say," he claimed.

City are now favourites to be the first English side to win The Treble since 1999, and will take on United in the FA Cup final before facing Inter in the Champions League final in June.

Evra also joked with Jamie Carragher about his feud with BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand, and a former team-mate of the 42-year-old's.

The incident between Evra and the City staff member may have been diffused, but the Manchester United legend's passion and enthusiasm for the game remains.

City are on the cusp of making history, and Evra's comments serve as a reminder to not celebrate yet - there's still one game left to play.
