Orlando Pirates Targeting Re-Signing of Academy Product Lehlohonolo Mtshali

Key Highlights :

1. Pirates are believed to have signed TS Galaxy's Melusi Buthelezi.
2. They are also believed to be in talks to sign All Stars defensive midfielder Lehlohonolo Mtshali.
3. They have not had the best of luck in recent years when it comes to signing academy products, most notably Ntsako Makhubela.

Orlando Pirates have reportedly already made their first signing of the upcoming season, but they are not resting on their laurels and are believed to be looking to secure more signings. It is believed that Pirates are looking to avoid a potential keeper crisis next season by signing TS Galaxy’s impressive Melusi Buthelezi. Now it looks like Pirates have also been hard at work, trying to secure some signings on the opposite side of the pitch. There have been several attackers linked to the Buccaneers, including the likes of Katlego Otladisa, Ashley Cupido, Ranga Chivaviro, Mokete Mogaila and Benson Omala.

According to the latest reports, the Sea Robbers are also in talks to re-sign All Stars defensive midfielder Lehlohonolo Mtshali. Mtshali's consistent displays have led to him being monitored by the Buccaneers and other clubs in the elite league. It is believed that Pirates are ready to let go of a couple of midfielders with the likes of Ben Motshwari, Goodman Mosele and Fortune Makaringe's futures still uncertain at the club. Initial talks have been started between the parties although Pirates face competition from a few other clubs for the player’s services.

Pirates do not have the best of fortunes with re-signing their academy products, the most recent example being Ntsako Makhubela who, after struggling for game time, was eventually sent back to Golden Arrows where he is now thriving again. They will be hoping for a different outcome if they do, indeed, end up signing Mtshali. It remains to be seen if the Sea Robbers will be able to secure the signing of the All Stars midfielder and what other signings they will make ahead of the upcoming season.
