Sabina Trojanova, a 29-year-old content creator, set herself a challenge to prove that anyone can afford a foreign holiday – and used one simple trick to do it. She wanted to travel to three countries for under £50, and managed to do it by picking her destinations the night before flying.

Sabina started her trip in Dublin, Ireland, where she found a flight from London for £12.99. She set herself a budget of £200 for each country, including accommodation for two nights and flights, and spent a total of £613.83. However, Sabina said she could have cut down the costs even more.

To find the cheapest flights for her next destination, Sabina used an app called kewi.com. She also set herself four tasks to do in each country she visited. These tasks included eating the national or regional traditional dish, something sweet from the region, finding an interesting woman from history, and reading a book by a local author.

In Dublin, Sabina stayed in a hostel for £88.88 and ate a traditional Irish stew in a pub. She then moved onto Marseille, France, where she found a regional seafood stew and a Madeline for her sweet. Sabina stayed in an Airbnb for £94.26.

For her last stop, Palma in Spain, Sabina stayed in a hostel for £80.36 for two nights and enjoyed Spanish tapas. She also spent time at a local food market and found a traditional bun.

Sabina said that her trip was to show that anyone can travel as a woman on their own, even if they don’t speak the language. She also said that if she had done this every week, it would have been hugely environmentally impactful.

Sabina is an experienced traveller and has visited 60 countries, both solo and with her boyfriend, Sam. Some of her favourite destinations include West Bank, Pakistan and Malawi, East Africa. She is now moving to Argentina for three months with Sam and is staying there for free by housesitting.

Sabina’s trip proves that anyone can afford a foreign holiday with some careful planning and budgeting. By picking her destinations the night before flying, Sabina was able to secure cheap flights and explore three countries for under £50.
