     Yesterday was a momentous occasion for the people of Britain. After the death of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles stepped up to take the solemn oath to the country to continue to protect and guide us. The Coronation unfolded as smoothly and with as much grandeur as Britain could muster, despite the weather. Prince George, Charlotte and Louis squealed with excitement in a new unseen Coronation video as King Charles III and Queen Camilla traveled from Westminster Abbey in the Gold State Coach to Buckingham Palace.

     The Coronation was a piece of History with a capital H. Coronations, like comets, are rare and it is quite something to see one. Ceremony and ritual, all this great country’s glorious ­trappings out on display for us all to enjoy, from the dignitaries and nobles and faith leaders gathering at the Abbey to the armed forces marching so proudly in the procession. King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned in a ceremony that dates back a thousand years.

     At the Palace, thousands of nurses were invited to watch the proceedings on a big screen. These nurses battled through the pandemic, risking their lives to care for us. Alongside them were veterans, men and women who fought for Britain. Families thronged The Mall, packed in tight, rain-soaked, cheering at the top of their lungs, opening their hearts to their new King.

     Now that the Coronation is over, King Charles III has work to do. He is now a major figure on the world stage and his decisions and influence can change the world. He can help forge a new green future for the planet, use his power and status to improve people’s lives, and provide the help needed to heal this often divided nation. Later today, there is a concert to enjoy and a bank holiday Monday to celebrate.

     The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla was a momentous occasion for the people of Britain. The ancient ceremony was diverse and relevant, marking the end of the old days and the beginning of the new. We now look to the future with hope and optimism as King Charles III begins his reign.
